Little Blessings: Here we grow
At its heart, the proposed expansion of Little Blessings into a full-time, licensed, faith-based Early Learning Center (ELC) is not simply a programmatic or financial decision—it is a faithful response to God’s call to grow in Christ, care for children, and serve our community with wisdom and courage.
Over the past year, Saginaw United Methodist Church has been prayerfully listening for God’s next faithful step. Through discernment, conversation, and study, a clear theme has emerged: God is inviting us to use what we have been given—our people, facilities, relationships, and resources—to bless others and multiply life-giving ministry.
Growing in Christ
Discipleship is formed through daily practices shaped by love, trust, and grace. A full-time Early Learning Center allows the church to live out Christ’s love Monday through Friday, creating an environment where faith is modeled through care, prayer, storytelling, and compassion. This is not about forcing belief, but about forming lives in the way of Jesus.
Growing with Children
For more than 40 years, Little Blessings has been a trusted ministry to children and families. Expanding into a full-time, licensed ELC responds to the real needs of today’s families, especially working parents and caregivers, while offering developmentally appropriate learning, social-emotional support, and faith-integrated care during the most formative years of life.
This expansion supports:- Experiential learning and social-emotional development
- Holistic spiritual formation woven into daily rhythms
- Safe, excellent, and fully compliant early childhood education
Growing in Community
Our community is changing. Families are stretched, quality childcare is limited, and many parents feel isolated and overwhelmed. A full-time ELC is a tangible way to love our neighbors, strengthen families, and serve the wider Saginaw and EMS-ISD community. It positions the church as a trusted partner—not only for childcare, but for connection, mental health awareness, and family support.
Faithful Stewardship: Why This Makes Financial Sense
Jesus’ parable in Matthew 25 reminds us that faithfulness is not found in burying what we have been given out of fear, but in using God’s gifts wisely to bear fruit for the Kingdom.
This expansion represents good stewardship because it:- Leverages existing facilities more fully and responsibly
- Aligns mission impact with financial sustainability
- Diversifies revenue in a way that supports ministry, not replaces it
- Reduces long-term strain by creating stable, mission-aligned income
- Allows resources to be reinvested into children, families, and outreach
A Vision-Aligned and Discerned Step
This proposal builds on extensive discernment, including:- 100 Days of Prayer
- Community conversations and congregational feedback
- Consultant-led financial and facility analysis
- Market and sustainability review
Why This Matters
This is about becoming more fully who God is calling us to be:
“Imperfect people Embracing God’s grace, Equipping families and youth to flourish in life’s beautiful and messy moments through mentorship, and Engaging our community with compassionate relationships.”
"Embracing grace. Equipping families. Engaging our community.”
In prayerfully exploring and moving toward a full-time Early Learning Center, Saginaw United Methodist Church is saying yes to growth that is:- Rooted in Christ
- Centered on children
- Committed to community
- Guided by faithful stewardship
- Affordable Faith-Based Child Care for Ages 6 Weeks to Pre-K
Early childhood is a critical period of life during which babies and toddlers learn tremendously about the world we live in. Your child deserves to be in a rich learning environment where they can move, explore, discover, and make choices.
Children receive the opportunity to learn through play in a relaxed and nurturing environment here. Learning in this environment enhances their self-esteem and allows them to grow spiritually, mentally, socially, physically, and emotionally. Through active learning experiences, children have the opportunity to explore, discover, create, and communicate.
